Layout: Daydream

Daydream layoutI love this layout. It took me 5 hours to complete, but it was well worth it. Dim Horizon Studio took this photo of me during our Christmas card session and I had been struggling with how to scrapbook it. Then today a 2peas challenge for something boho and artsy and this just happened. It’s not what I do all the time, and it was fun to put it together once it all got started.

I hope you enjoy.

Thanks for reading & happy crafting!

Working from a 12×12 sketch

Some sketches or layouts are easier to work from then others. I have worked from many 12×12 sketches. I tend to keep a notebook nearby when searching for inspiration online. I divide the page into 4th with a pen and then sketch the layout into a mini-version in one of the 4 spaces.  There are times when I’m working from a 12×12 sketch that I try to alter the entire layout and other times that I just take elements.

from pagemaps.com July 2010

From this Becky Fleck sketch I only took some elements. I started with the photo box. I kept the top 3 photos the same size, but I added 2 2.5×2 photos to the bottom (I had quite a few photos I wanted to include in this layout) and then I added a strip of patterned paper to the left and moved the title to the bottom. Here’s my layout. I used cosmo cricket for the patterned papers from the snorkel collection and sticker ribbon. I used American Craft stickers to create the title (and my scanner and I aren’t getting along so the colors are a little washed out)

Then at times I’ll take the entire layout and alter it.

Here I just made everything a bit smaller. I made a 5 inch circle and used a 4×4 size for my main photo. Each of the photos in the strip are 2×2 still.

Sketch 1

SketchWelcome to my blog. this is a sketch and layout I created for a challenge at BackPorchMemories.com for January.

I’m hoping to make my sketches better in the future. Right now I’m just free handing them into a program I have.

The layout I created to go with this sketch:

2011 Scrapbooking Goals

I set myself some scrapbooking goals for 2011:

  • 52 Layouts
  • 2 Minibooks
  • 25 Cards

I’d also like to be on at least 1 design team this year, be published, and win one layout contest. While it doesn’t seem like much. these are all big deals to me.

So far this year I’ve applied for 6 design teams, 2 guest design team spots, and I’ve already been published.

I’ve created:

  • 7 layouts (I’ve got 3 works in progress)
  • 1 card
  • 0 minibooks

I’m considering participation in LayOut A Day (LOAD) for February to hopefully start on my first minibook of the year and some more layouts.

View From the top of Expedition Everest

The layout I’m showcasing this week was a fun one. I waited in the front row line for Expedition Everest and had my camera ready. The smaller pictures about show how you can see Epcot and Hollywood Studios clearly on the ride up to the top. The the big image is what you see when you get up there.

Products used:

CS: Bazzill

PP: Basic Grey (Archaic 6×6 pad)

Letters: Basic Grey (Archaic)
